**Three Fathoms Cove - Sai Kung** **Difficulty Level:** 2.5 **Distance:** 14+ km (approximate) **Time:** 5-6 hours **Description:** This hike is relaxing and quiet as most of it follows a babbling brook until it reaches Three Fathoms Cove. Though it is mostly flat, there are 2-3 areas that require a little more work. We'll just take our time and get through these areas as a team and at a moderate pace. The point is to enjoy the great outdoors together and to be safe. **Some highlights:** Along the way we'll pass by two Hakka villages, forests, grasslands, wetlands, and mangroves. **What to bring:** * 3-4 liters of water * Snacks to eat along the way (sandwich, fruits, nuts, etc) * Hiking shoes with good support * Sunglasses * Headgear (cap/hat) * Sunscreen * Bug Spray * In case of Rain: plan accordingly **Toilets:** There are at least 2-3 toilets along the way. **Restaurants/Stores:** There may be one or two small shops along the route that sell drinks and snacks. If they’re open, we can stop to rest and order something. However, their operating hours are not guaranteed. Please plan accordingly in case they are closed. **Meeting Point:** Sai Kung Pier (near the 7-11 Convenience Store). Once everyone arrives we’ll take the minibus #7 and alight at Pak Sha O. **Time:** 10:00 am (SHARP) **IMPORTANT:** Out of respect to the members that arrive on time, we will only be able to wait a maximum of 5 minutes. Should you arrive after 10:05 am, I will no longer be answering phone calls or responding to messages as I need to give my time and attention to those that have arrived on time.

IMPORTANT: For first time joiners, please send a message to the host via Meetup to confirm your attendance once you sign up to join. Otherwise, you may be moved to the waiting list. The hosts reserve the rights to edit the attendance list. This meetup is scheduled for players NTRP 2.5 or higher. Players who wish to join the event MUST at least be able to rally and return shots with reasonable pace. This is hitting for fun/practice and please bring your own racquet. Balls will be provided on each court. If you can play regularly on Saturday night, please join us and have fun. We shall rally and play some games. One court will be for game and the other for rally/game, which the host will decide on the spot to suit the players most. If the event is full and you are interested to join, you can sign up on the wait list. We may be able to get an additional court to accommodate more players. Cost: $60 per person to be paid on court IMPORTANT: If you cannot attend the event, you are required to update your RSVP status accordingly 24 hours in advance, so that the waiting list can move up. 🚇Meeting point: Central Station exit J2 We will be climbing Victoria Peak by a very interesting but also technically challenging route. I plan to follow the 'Blue' route in the link below. There will be rope climbing and some scrambling. I'm attempting this route for the first time so we will go slow and explore fully. **Meeting Point: Fanling MTR Station, Exit C** (We will take minibus together) **Hike Start Point:** Luk Keng (Nam Chung) Minibus Terminus (56K) **Hike End Point:** Tai Mei Tuk Bus Terminus Hike Time: ~1:00 PM to ~5:30 PM **Wilson Trail Section 10 (Reverse Hike) - An Afternoon Forest & Reservoir Walk** Join us for a relaxed afternoon completing the final section of the Wilson Trail! We'll hike it in reverse, starting from the serene village of Nam Chung and winding through quiet forests and past forgotten hamlets on our way to the iconic Plover Cove Reservoir at Tai Mei Tuk. It's the perfect escape for a peaceful, scenic walk as the day winds down. **Who should sign up?** This is a **slow/moderate paced** leisure hike perfect for beginners and those looking for a tranquil, nature-focused walk. It is not suitable for fast hikers as we will maintain a relaxed pace with breaks. The trail is well-defined, mostly shaded, and offers a "quiet walk with nature" experience. **DO:** ✔ Be on time at **Fanling MTR, Exit C**. We will wait a maximum of 10 minutes after the meeting time to catch the minibus together. ✔ Wear good, comfortable walking or hiking shoes. ✔ Bring **at least 1.5 liters of water** and some snacks. ✔ Bring sun protection (hat, sunblock) and rain gear just in case. ✔ Consider a light layer for the evening breeze near the reservoir. ✔ **Have lunch before the hike** or bring it to eat at the meeting point. **Toilets/Supplies:** * **Start:** Luk Keng Village near the minibus terminus. * **End:** Public toilets and numerous shops/cafes at Tai Mei Tuk Bus Terminus. **Hike Description:** We will meet at Fanling MTR Station, Exit C and take green minibus 56K to the Luk Keng Terminus at Nam Chung. The hike follows Wilson Trail Section 10 in reverse. We begin on a paved road before entering peaceful, shaded woodland paths. The trail is well-maintained but note there is *little to no cell signal* for most of the route. We'll pass streams, abandoned village houses, and quiet forest sections—a true escape. The trail then merges with the Pat Sin Leng Nature Trail for our final descent, offering beautiful late-afternoon views of Plover Cove Reservoir, before finishing at Tai Mei Tuk. Total time on trail is approximately 4-4.5 hours at a leisurely pace. **Transport:** * **To Start:** Meet at Fanling MTR Station, Exit C. Together, we will take Green Minibus 56K to the final stop at Luk Keng (Nam Chung). * **From Finish:** At Tai Mei Tuk, we will take Bus 75K or 275R to Tai Po Market MTR Station. **PADS Rating:** * **Pace: 2.0** (Regular hiking at a comfortable pace with regular breaks). * **Ascent: 3.6** (650m) * **Distance: 3.0** (11.2km) * **Surface: 2.0** (Well-defined trails but with significant rocky bits and unevenness). * **Overall Rating: 2.7** * **Difficulty Level: MODERATE** (falls within the 2.3 to 3.0 range). **Please keep an eye on weather conditions.** If the weather is deemed too bad to proceed, the event will be cancelled. Brace yourself for an exhilarating adventure that will leave you breathless with excitement. Join us as we conquer the 8.5km trail encircling the captivating Tung Lung Chau Island, a journey that will ignite your senses and take approximately 4.5 hours of pure adrenaline. Experience the island's wonders in all their glory, from the breathtaking climb to the 232-meter pinnacle to the awe-inspiring remains of Tung Lung Chau Fort, a formidable defense against marauding pirates. Get ready to immerse yourself in this thrilling escapade, where every step is a testament to the indomitable spirit of exploration. # This is a great experience - and one we would like to take advantage of whilst the temperature is at its best for an exposed route. Join us for a stunning lakeside stroll that transitions into the Xiangshan Cloud Path. This 11km route is as smooth as it is beautiful, featuring gentle slopes that wind through the trees above a reservoir and over to the coast. **The Highlights:** Panoramic lake vistas, rock formations, lush greenery with flowering trees, finishing with sweeping views of the harbour and beach. We should end our walk around 3:00 PM near the beach. You can dive into a meal at a local restaurant or enjoy a packed lunch on the sand. **Logistics:** We’ll take taxis to and from the port, making the round-trip journey from Hong Kong nice and easy. Return: Once again, we will use taxis to return to the port area and reverse journey to Hong Kong and your buses home. **Important Hike Details** Total distance: 12.5 km Total Ascent: 350m (quite gentle slopes, spread out over the walk) Pace: Easy walking pace with breaks for rest and photos. Commencing at Shek Pik Reservoir, this hike offers a glimpse into the past as we encounter historical landmarks like the Lantau South Obelisk and the fascinating Sham Hang Lek foundations. Traverse the timeworn pathway of Fan Lau village, where ancient houses whisper tales of yesteryears. Be prepared to be enthralled by the captivating beauty of the pristine beaches that grace our path. And if fortune smiles upon us, we may even witness the graceful presence of pink dolphins near the shoreline.
