Tue. Cafe Writing/Sharing Session
Tue. Cafe Writing/Sharing Session
We are writers of all levels – beginners to published. And we meet at STARBUCK at IFC (P2 Shop2097-2098, International Finance Centre), Central for fun writing and sharing sessions! We all write a one-sentence prompt, then each select one at random. We write something based on the prompt for 45 minutes, after which, we share our work with each other and discuss as desired. Of course, sharing is optional but encouraged. (Feedback is always polite and respectful.) Alternatively, you can bring your own project(s) to work on in the company of fellow writers (published and yet-to-be published). You can share your project(s), too, if you want. It's all about creativity and productivity in a supportive environment! Any questions, just reach out to our organizers through Meetup.
The Heart of Connection: Why We Love
The Heart of Connection: Why We Love
**Summary:** Before we can build meaningful relationships with others, we must first understand the relationship we have with ourselves. This focused discussion explores one fundamental question that shapes every partnership we form: "**Why do people want to find a partner?**" Your answer to this question reveals more than just your relationship goals—it uncovers the deepest layers of your expectations, fears, and hopes about connection itself. *"Love does not consist in gazing at each other, but in looking outward together in the same direction." — Antoine de Saint-Exupéry* Have you ever paused to ask yourself why you're looking for a partner? This isn't about how to find someone or what makes a good relationship. This is about understanding the fundamental drivers behind our search for partnership. The answer to this question often determines how enduring our relationships will be, and how enriching they can be for both people. Here're some of the things we may explore in this special focused discussion: 🔹 Are we seeking completion or companionship? 🔹 Do we want a partner to fill a void, or to share an already full life? 🔹 How do our answers shape the quality and longevity of our relationships? 🔹 What happens when two people's "whys" don't align? This conversation requires honest self-reflection more than relationship experience. Whether you're single, dating, or in a long-term partnership, exploring this question can bring profound clarity to all your connections. Come with an open mind and a sharing heart. Leave with fresh insights about what you truly seek in connection. 👋 Inviting all who are... 💭 Questioning their own motivations in relationships 🤔 Curious about the psychology behind partnership ❤️ Seeking more authentic connections with others 🌱 Ready for honest self-reflection about their relationship patterns ✨ Open to understanding how their "why" shapes their relationship outcomes 🗓️ Agenda / What You'll Experience (in No Particular Order) 💬 Focused Discussion on "The Why" Our diverse group will come together to exchange ideas. We will tackle a few core question chosen by our facilitator or collectively, such as: "Why do people want to find a partner?" Each participant is encouraged to contribute. From there, we’ll embark on a respectful, engaging, and meaningful conversation, celebrating the diversity of perspectives within the group. 💬 Additional Reflection We may explore related questions, further encouraging personal reflection and small-group sharing. Here are some sample questions. * What did your earliest models of partnership teach you about "why" people couple? * When you imagine your ideal partnership, what need does it fulfill that being single doesn't? * Complete this sentence: "A partner would make my life better by..." Note: This session may involve virtual question cards accessed via a link or QR code. If you do not have a device (phone/tablet) to access these, please ask a facilitator for assistance. 💬 Final Thoughts and Feedback Where time allows, before the end of the event, we’ll take a moment to reflect on the key insights, memorable moments, and takeaways from our discussions. 💡 Why This Question Matters This question emerged from our previous discussions on love and relationships as the most revealing inquiry we can make about partnership. Understanding our true motivations helps us build relationships that are not just satisfying, but truly transformative for everyone involved. ✨ What is Curious Souls Café? [Curious Souls Café](https://curioussouls.cafe/) is an event designed to nurture healthy curiosity and foster connections through meaningful conversations. We look forward to meeting you at one of our events in the future! 😊

BYOBook: non-fiction books presentations and discussion
BYOBook: non-fiction books presentations and discussion
This is a regular Bring-Your-Own-Book session, where participants share and present to the group non-fiction books they have read. New members are welcome to attend to listen to and discuss the presentations of others. Usually a meeting takes around 2.5-3 hours. During this time we discuss 2 different books, roughly 1 hour per book. Any non-fiction material: a book, documentary, or lecture or a part of it - anything with a title and an author and that contains some coherent ideas. Each presentation includes a summary of a book (15-40 min) and discussion (accordingly). The meeting will be either in a park or in a coffee shop, on HK side. The exact place to be confirmed with the attendees **by WhatsApp only**. I will / have sent the link to the WhatsApp group, please use the link. Introvert friendly. We have people from different countries, so while books can be in any language, the language of the meeting is English. There is a fee of 20 HKD for the first timers to help funding the Meetup membership needed to run the group. Do not hit "Attend" if you are not going to attend. If you RSVPed, but there is anything preventing you from going to the meeting, remember to tell the host as soon as possible and/or update the RSVP - before the RSVP is closed, to give other people a chance to take your spot. But if you plan to attend, do hit "Attend", please :))) No-shows are all silently noted with much disapproval and will be removed from the group.
